Best Administrative Practices and Office Management

Effective administrative practices can make a critical difference in the workplace and to the success of activities within it; best administrative practices are not just a matter of being tidy but of understanding your organisation and place within it, being able to manage files and records, creating the right atmosphere and environment, communicating better through all available media, and leading and working in teams.

This engaging and practical course will provide attendees with all the ideas, tools, approaches, knowledge, skills and mindsets they need in order to get the best from their work in the office and to handle all activities in an effective and impactful way.   

Each day of the course will have a loose theme to it:

• The theme of day one is organisations and roles

• The theme of day two is working in the modern office

• The theme of day three is workplace communication

• The theme of day four is leadership and teamwork for the modern office

The course is designed and delivered by Ben Dobbs, a leadership and management trainer with wide-ranging international experience.

Objectives:

The objectives of the course are:

1. To better understand the modern organisation and roles within it.

2. To be able to prioritise tasks, manage time and resources, break down tasks, organise self and others, and pre-empt problems in an office.

3. To know how to file, organise, archive, name, index and cross-reference files and data.

4. To know the steps and considerations when planning and organising events.

5. To be able to manage stress and motivation of self and others and produce a productive office environment.

6. To advance functional workplace communication and overcome silo mentality through improved presenting, reporting, e-mail communication, meetings and calls.

7. To grow leadership, management and teamwork for the modern office.

8. To be better able to “manage up” and build effective relationships with those above you in the organisational hierarchy.

9. To form personal action plans for application of the training at work.
